"I have been assisting William for some years build up his environmental law course content related to Singapore and ASEAN law and governance. William developed his course ES2201 for ASE and NTU, and we had many discussions over the past several years about its development. This is a new course for NTU related to the law & economics of sustainability and environmental law. This is all highly relevant to many of NTU and Singapore's goals for training students who will become tomorrow's sustainability leaders, ambassadors, and elected officials. I've found William to be an excellent and friendly colleague and it's my hope and expectation that he and I will continue to work on projects together. William's credentials are very impressive, and I am in a good position (given my own career focus) to say he will continue to make a valuable contribution to NTU and Singapore. His international law background is rather unique with its combination of US, EU, and international law. And as I've noted, William has been working for some years with ASEAN law, adding that perspective to his skill set, teaching, presentations, and writing."

"William's primary role for the Division has been in teaching undergraduate economics majors. An important requirement for good teaching in a discipline is mastery of the subject matter, and William knows his subject areas thoroughly, including law & economics, environmental economics, and sustainable development. Perhaps the best endorsements of his teaching ability come from his students themselves, who remark regularly in evaluation comments that William's courses have stimulated and excited them to learn the subject matter. I think highly of William, and I am not alone in this evaluation. He has my strong recommendation."

"William was outstanding. His ability and maturity made it hard to believe that he is only at the beginning of his legal career rather than well along. You should make a special effort to keep him in the firm."

"William Clune worked with me in 2005 on a team project on the future of nuclear power. He is one of the very top people I have worked with in recent years. He had responsibility for researching and analyzing the economic impacts of regulatory procedures and legal processes in the controversial areas of waste disposal and fuel cycles for nuclear power. His contributions were used verbatim in the published final report, which has become an important and widely cited document. It has been publicized favorably by Senator Domenici, and it was used by the White House in its 2005 energy recommendations to Congress. A significant part of its success is due to William's efforts."

"As a lawyer, William's performance has been exceptional. In addition to being hard working and reliable, he impresses us with his intelligence and his ability to handle complex matters. William's prior work as a litigator and a negotiator has aided his efforts to resolve issues and matters in a timely and cost effective matter for International. Throughout his work, he demonstrates a keen understanding of the strategic issues and business consequences important to the company as a whole. William has worked successfully on a variety of matters, including air permitting, superfund consent decrees, de minimis settlements, cost-recovery actions, and voluntary cooperative agreements, as well as providing general support for the environmental groups at headquarters and at our various plant facilities."

"Consistent with William's admirable habit of taking the initiative, he contacted us at Naturskyddsföreningen in order to get involved with our ongoing environmental protection work. In 2010, he proposed two projects to me, one regarding a comparative law analysis on the subject of the protection of wolves, and a second comparative law project regarding insurance and liability issues in the nuclear power industry. Both of these projects were completed under contract and finished during 2010. We were appreciative and thrilled by William's two well-written and well-researched papers. His analysis on the insurance project gave us good ideas for scrutiny of contractual provisions in examining the problem of coverage related to nuclear accidents. William's second memo was even more thought-provoking and the similarities between wolf hunting and conservation laws and policies in the US and Sweden were of valuable assistance to our own strategic thinking and planning."

"William and I have worked closely for nearly six months on one particularly important collaborative effort. In a joint initiative between NTU's Complexity Program and the Sustainable Earth Peak, we are addressing Singapore's forthcoming National Innovation Challenge (NIC) research and project grant proposal estimated at $S 500 million for work related to Land & Future Ready Cities. In all respects, and on all stages during this NIC project, William has excelled, and made himself an indispensable colleague. He is, in fact, among the best people I've worked with at NTU."

"William brings a rare and important combination of skills, as well as many years of experience, to the complex challenges of sustainability. His experience working with the private sector (as an environmental lawyer, as a sustainability consultant, and as an entrepreneur), combined with significant experience working with universities (as a policy researcher and teacher), makes him uniquely qualified to successfully develop and manage sustainability initiatives and collaborations at NTU that cut across fields and professions. In fact, Singapore, and particularly NTU, is lacking in the specialized type of knowledge in environmental law & economics that William understands; he's filling a gap here that is becoming increasingly important to how our cities and societies deal with sustainability and environmental protection. William is engaged at NTU and at the Sustainable Earth Office leading or supporting virtually all of our projects. William has been highly successful here at NTU, has much more to contribute to the sustainability field in the years to come, and is someone I strongly recommend keeping, promoting, and working with in the future."
